GETTING READY FOR THE 2012 GENERAL ELECTION

On November, we will be holding what many are calling the most significant election in decades. Why do they say that? Perhaps it is because we face stark choices between the candidates. That is, after all, what an election is about, making a choice.

Over the decades our Federal Government has grown immensely in power and influence. Thus the Federal Government will spend about 3.8 trillion dollars in 2012 (see here) out of a Gross Domestic Product of about 15.6 trillion dollars. We can only guess at the cost of Federal regulations and speculate on the cost and effects of our tax laws.

Unfortunately, the economics effects of the growth of Federal power constitute only part of the equation. Federal laws now affect how we marry, whether we abort a child, how we educate our children, who we go to for our health care, the way we provide charitable assistance to the poor, and so forth. Therefore, the Federal Government as never before now involves itself in everyone’s life. That raises a question. Is this the best way to protect our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Will this kind of government help us produce the type of country where we want to raise our children and grandchildren?

Where do the candidates stand? To help the citizens of Prince William County distinguish where the candidates stand on issues important to the family, the Prince William and Manassas Family Alliance (PWMFA) is preparing nonpartisan voter guides on the congressional candidates running in Prince William County. Do you wish to help prepare or distribute these guides. The please click Get Involved.
